A family experience day in Glasgow might involve a variety of activities – but where else can you experience historical sword fighting and traditional archery?
We have a full-time indoor venue near Glasgow city centre, and our instructors are well-experienced, professional, and friendly. If you would like an experience day for your family, your friends, or even just for yourself, then we can tailor an event to give you several broad, fascinating experiences, so that you build memories and take plenty of fun stories home with you. Children are more than welcome, so this could be a fun family day out!
An experience day could begin with the medieval two-handed longsword. We’ll teach you how to perform various strikes and defences, we can chat a little about the medieval fencing masters and the books they wrote about fighting skills, and you can even try some sparring with the instructor.
We might then do some archery at our indoor archery range. This will give your arms a welcome break from wielding swords, and will showcase another traditional skill. Archery requires quite a different type of musculature and physicality to sword fighting, and develops quite a different type of coordination as well.
You could then potentially explore how to fence with the Scottish basket-hilted broadsword or long cup-hilt rapier. Or perhaps you are interested in quarter staff or targe?
