Description
We have invited Jack Fraser over to visit us at the Vanguard Centre in Glasgow to deliver an afternoon Longsword seminar on April 15th, which will be followed by a small sparring session.
The subject of the seminar will be Schiessen (Shooting – another term for thrusting) from the Pol Hausbuch, also known as the manuscript 3227a. Jack will lay out some fundamental material for what Schiessen is, and the mechanics and body structure of how to do it properly and effectively. Following this, he will illustrate different concepts to use the technique, such as keeping the initiative, forcing advantages, identifying or creating openings with foot work and blade work.
After the instructive parts of the seminar, we will open the floor for some Longsword sparring, where participants will get a chance to practise this new technique with uncooperative opponents, and try to add it in to their existing repertoire. Jack will also be cruising the floor to play with as many people as he can, which will be a great chance to fence with a high level, technical fighter from another club with a different style!
TVC members are welcome, and of course, guests and friends from other clubs are more than welcome too!

The longsword seminar will run from 1.00pm until 4.00pm, with assorted breaks throughout.
Afterwards, from 4.00-6.00pm, the floor will be open for free sparring.
After 6.00pm and a general disarm, The Vanguard Centre will host a HEMA social gathering for all our members and friends to join us for an informal party. Attendees from the seminar are encouraged to stay in, and fencers who do not attend are welcome to join us for free after 6.00pm to build some team spirit. Ordering in takeaways, contributing snacks, and BYOB encouraged!

There are a maximum of 20 tickets available for the seminar, although any number of people can turn up for the sparring session.
Please note that if you select the membership prices, you must have an up to date TVC or AHA membership, otherwise we will chase you up for the correct fee!
