A celebratory open sparring day at The Vanguard Centre for all HEMA fencers to join us!
After The Vanguard Centre’s 11th anniversary party on Saturday 12th September, we would love to get straight back into the action and celebrate our longevity and community spirit with a few hours of recreational violence!
This will be an open invitation to HEMA people from all clubs to join us for an unofficial Scottish HEMA gathering in our halls.
There will be some equipment and weaponry to borrow, and some refreshments provided, but of course all participants are welcome to bring as much kit as they want to use, lend, and train with, and enough supplies to stay hydrated and energised for the duration!

Sparring will be hosted in The Vanguard Centre, at 63 Commerce Street, Glasgow, G5 8AD.
Parking is available on the streets around The Vanguard Centre, with no need to pay at meters as there are no parking restrictions on Sundays. We are also accessible with a short walk (approx 6 minutes) from Glasgow Central Railway Station, and directly opposite bus stops on several major bus routes through the centre and South of the city.
All attendees will need to sign-in to the venue at reception upon arrival, and complete a safety waiver and contact details form if they have not attended any events or training sessions at The Vanguard Centre before.

1.45pm Vanguard Open for reception and kit-up
2.00pm Safety Briefing, Equipment Wrangling, Level Setting
2.15pm Warm-ups, Stretching, Boffer Games
2.30pm Sparring time (all weapons and equipment levels)
6.30pm Sparring ends, pack-up and depart
6.45pm The Vanguard Centre to be empty
