Description
Hosted at the Vanguard Centre on the afternoon of Sunday the 12th of September, from 12:30 to 6:30pm, we cordially invite all HEMA people from across our club, our friends across Glasgow, Scotland, and beyond, to join in with us for some rusty, sweaty, floppy, clumsy play-time to get used to fencing again!
Attendance will cost ยฃ15 per person, or ยฃ10 for AHA members. This will be a nice, cheap, accessible first time offer for everyone to reacquaint with each other and free-play, and have the benefit of AHA staff coaching and refereeing matches.
Sparring will be either coached or free-play, with opportunities to run mock tournament bouts and scoring matches to build competition experience if desired. Sparring will be open to everyone who has completed 3 months or more of basic training in any one discipline, or the equivalent beginners course as judged by your club leaders. This event will be beginner and intermediate friendly, with consent from your club leaders and Vanguard staff.
Some equipment, such as basic masks, gloves, forearm guards and some other padding will be available to loan, along with plastic training swords and some other weapons. We would ask anyone attending who has their own kit to bring it, and any spares to loan, so we can all get the most out of the experience. (Please mark or name your kit clearly so it can be identified if misplaced or left behind.)
